Only Five Ingredients. Each One Food-Contact Certified.
Most food-contact filaments are tested only as a finished product. Bambu PLA Pure is different. Every ingredient—from the base resin to the pigment—is individually tested and certified for food-contact safety under EU standards.
Made with just five ingredients, PLA Pure was the first filament in its category to take this ingredient-by-ingredient approach and remains unique in doing so.
UL GREENGUARD Certified. Low Emissions for Indoor Printing.
PLA Pure is certified to UL GREENGUARD 2904, a recognized standard for 3D printer emissions.
Testing shows that the particles and VOCs released during printing remain below established certification limits, making it a suitable choice for indoor environments such as homes, offices, and classrooms.
Toy Safety Certified. Designed for Everyday Handling.
Certified to EN 71-3, the European safety standard for toy materials, PLA Pure is intended for printed objects that are frequently touched, handled, and played with.
From toy vehicles and pretend kitchen accessories to household items, it is designed for everyday use around the home.
Made for Everyday Objects.
PLA Pure complies with EU No. 10/2011, the European Union regulation for plastics intended to come into contact with food.
Its carefully selected ingredients make it well suited for creating household tools, children’s toys, and other everyday items that are regularly handled.
Effortless Printing.
A cleaner formulation with fewer additives helps reduce residue buildup, minimizing nozzle clogs and supporting consistent extrusion.
The result is reliable printing performance and smoother operation from spool to spool.
Purer Formula. Proven Strength.
Reduced additives do not mean reduced performance. PLA Pure delivers mechanical properties comparable to Bambu PLA Basic, including strong layer adhesion and dependable durability.
Even without pre-drying, it can produce less stringing than many standard PLA filaments, helping create cleaner surfaces with less post-processing.
RFID for Intelligent Printing.
All recommended printing parameters are stored on the filament’s RFID tag and can be read automatically by the AMS (Automatic Material System).
Simply load the filament, sync the settings, and start printing with minimal setup.
Printing Tips
Food-Contact Use
Food-contact certification applies to the filament material itself. The safety of printed parts depends on factors such as printer cleanliness, nozzle condition, printing environment, and post-processing.
Because FDM prints contain layer lines, they are not recommended for holding liquid foods. Printed PLA parts should also not be exposed to temperatures above 60°C.
PLA Pure is specifically developed for FDM printing with both emission safety and material-contact safety in mind. Applications requiring higher levels of contact safety should follow additional guidelines provided by Bambu Lab.
For detailed recommendations, refer to the official Bambu Lab Wiki.
Accessory Compatibility
PLA Pure is compatible with all supported printers, AMS systems, build plates, and nozzles.
For printed parts intended for contact-safe applications, Bambu Liquid Glue and Solid Glue are not recommended. Improved bed adhesion can instead be achieved by increasing the build plate temperature.
Drying Recommendations
For the best print quality and surface finish, dry the filament before use and store it in a dry environment afterward.
Additional drying guidance is available on the Bambu Lab Wiki.
Refill Guidelines
Refill filament must be used with a compatible spool.
Instructions for transferring refill filament onto a Bambu Reusable Spool can be found on the Bambu Lab Wiki.
Important Notice

- Although PLA Pure has passed food-contact compliance testing for both the raw material and printed samples, 3D printing outcomes depend on many variables, including equipment, environment, operating procedures, and post-processing methods.
- Bambu Lab certifies the quality and compliance of the filament material itself but does not guarantee that user-produced prints will meet food-contact regulations or certification requirements in every jurisdiction.
- Users are responsible for evaluating whether their finished prints are suitable for their intended application.
